Welcome Back, Crete Families!

Summer may be winding down, but we’re ready for the school year ahead and looking forward to seeing CHS Cardinals return to school.

First Days of School
All freshmen will report August 14th for their transition day. This is an early out day, so students will be dismissed at 1:34. All sophomores, juniors and seniors will report back on August 15th, this is a normal 3:331 schedule for all students.

New Staff
We have some new staff joining us this year. In the English department Cassidy Buescher and Rebecca Lawson will be teaching freshmen and sophomores. Jennifer Parker will be teaching integrated science. We have added an additional art teacher, Megan Mousel will be taking on that role. John Kucera is our new counselor and will be assisting sophomores and juniors. And we have added Paul Heusinkvelt as our strength and conditioning coach. We are very pleased to have these awesome educators joining our Cardinal team.

CCLC
CCLC will be starting the week of August 19th.

Athletics
Our sports teams are gearing up for a fantastic season, and we know they’ll appreciate your support. All fall sport practices will begin August 12th.

📅 Important Dates

  • August 12th: Open House from 5:00-8:00

  • August 14th: Freshmen First Day

  • August 15th: Sophomore - Senior First Day

  • August 29th: First Home Football Game

Safety

Photo identification will be required when picking up students from the office during the school day. This measure is being implemented to ensure the safety and security of all our students.  We appreciate your cooperation and understanding.

Our school will continue to use The “I Love U Guys” Foundation’s Standard Response Protocol (SRP). Students and staff will be training, practicing, and drilling the protocol.  The premise is simple - five specific actions could be performed during an incident. When communicating these, the action is communicated first with one common word and then simple directions.  For example, if sheltering from severe weather, the students would be told "Shelter.  Tornado sirens are sounding.  Evacuate to a sheltered area."  Execution of the action is performed by active participants, including students, staff, teachers, and first responders. The SRP is based on the following actions: Hold, Secure, Lockdown, Evacuate, and Shelter.  Please see the attached document for more information.
